For this new wallcovering collection designers from both houses sought to create an expansive panel design; where MacAndreas Tartan sits as the fabric, Draped Tartan becomes the gown. The result was inspired by the famous taffeta gown worn by Kate Moss in the Vivienne Westwood Autumn-Winter 1993/94 Anglomania collection, which was cut and ruched allowing the tartan to crease and fall in different directions. Draped Tartan creates an exuberant trompe-l’oeil motif honouring the gown’s expressive folds.
Cole & Son’s artists entirely hand-painted the design’s fabric over countless hours, imbuing the drapery with the presence of the hand in each lovingly painted stripe. Presented in a singular colourway of Cyan & Magenta, the result is a surreal, show-stopping mural for the boldest of clients that could only come from a meeting of minds at Cole & Son and Vivienne Westwood.
